How to choose milling inserts correctly

A Milling Inserts is a rotary tool with one or more cutter teeth for milling. When it is working, each cutter tooth successively intermittently cuts off the workpiece allowance. Milling inserts is mainly used in milling machine processing plane, step, groove, forming surface and cutting workpiece.

In the choice of milling cutter, the milling cutter body and tool holder should pay attention to the milling cutter is used in CNC machining center, or ordinary milling machine.


Materials and hardness of milling blade processing:

Milling cutter specifications, such as: blade length, full length, blade diameter, handle diameter, etc.

If it is used on the CNC machining center, it should choose the whole hard alloy. White steel can be used on the ordinary milling machine.

The hardness of white steel milling cutter is softer than that of carbide milling cutter. High-speed steel knife is cheap, good toughness, but not high strength, easy to let the knife, and wear resistance, heat hardness is relatively poor.

Carbide milling cutter is hot and hard, wear-resistant, but the impact resistance is poor, the blade will be broken at random.

Therefore, white steel is suitable for ordinary milling machine, alloy milling cutter is suitable for CNC machining center.

The use of milling blades

In order to obtain better cutting surface and prolong tool life. Be sure to use high precision, high rigidity milling cutter.

1, before using the tool, please measure the tool yaw, tool yaw accuracy is more than 0.01MM, please correct before cutting.

2. The shorter the length of the tool extension chuck is the better. If the tool extension is longer, please adjust the speed, feed speed or cutting quantity by yourself.

3, if there is abnormal vibration or sound in the cutting, please reduce the spindle speed and cutting amount until the situation improves.

4, steel cooling to spray or jet as the best way to apply. Insoluble cutting fluid is recommended for stainless steel, titanium alloy or heat-resistant alloy.

5. The cutting mode has an impact on the workpiece, machine and software. After the cutting condition is stable, the feed speed will be increased by 30%~50%.

Selection of milling blade diameter

The selection of milling blade diameter depends on the different products and production batches, the selection of tool diameter mainly depends on the specifications of the equipment and the processing size of the workpiece
